This is a follow up to the post a few weeks back regarding borrowing fom the ICA library for those of us who are not based in the States.
I decided to use the library's services as I was finding it extremely difficult to locate a work by Luigi Bassi, and they had a copy.
I sent my request (along with a list of 10 or so other scores) on June 13th (with a copy of my ICA membership info, the page you are e-mailed when you took out your membership appears to be satisfactory). By July 10th I had not heard anything, so sent the library a e-mail asking if my request had been received. I was sent a very helpful e-mail telling me that yes, they had been sent but were at the mercy of the postal service.
Yesterday, the scores arrived, but unfortunately short of the Bassi that I was so hoping to get hold of, as it was already loaned out. I sent another e-mail asking if the Bassi could be reserved for a future loan, and again received a reply saying that it had just been returned and would be sent to me at no extra cost.
So, international BBoarders...don't be afraid to use this fantastic resource. I'd say a month turn around to borrow scores is pretty quick, especially as they have extended the usual 2 month borrowing time for me as well. $18 well spent in my opinion, and a big thank you to all who look after the collection.
