I am a student at the Birmingham Conservatoire(England) and have just recently won the John Ireland Competion with the Fantasy-Sonata, I am now about to take on the above mentioned concerto. Any tips and are the metronome marks in the piece correct.

Well, good luck to you, Pete. This concerto is considered to be one of the most difficult in the repertoire--along with the Tomasi and the Nielsen.
As far as tips: Just use your regular practice techniques. If those don't work then you should either re-evaluate your practice regime or not work on this piece yet.
If you can find a recording of this, the buy it.
Congrats, and good luck,
Frank

Hi
just a small irrelevant question in some aspects but when you say you are a student do you mean like a tertiary student or what age, just interested. Congratds on your win you must have played very well

Tim;
The site is www.tapmusic.com They have the largest selection of clarinet recordings I have ever seen. If someone knows of another site I would be interested in hearing about it.
