I got the E11. Mostly because I totally misunderstood the salesman over the phone and I thought he said he'd sell me the R13 for $870 and he meant the E11. The R13 was $1350, which is a good price, but too much for me right now. So, it's the E11, which is new. I love it! I got just a little study book, to give me something to start with. I got about 4 different reeds, different makes and sized, to see which worked for me.
I didn't squawk, either. I was so surprised at the nice full sound I got! So, I'll be practicing like mad at home and playing with our chruch ensemble, too.
Thanks to everyone for their advice and encouragement! Musicians are the coolest people in the world!

Congrats!
You may want to take some time to break it in properly though to avoid cracking in the future. If you do a search here on Sneezy you will find some helpful tips. Enjoy your new horn!

Almost all new clarinets have one defect: too much register key elevation. It should be 1.2mm to 0.65mm.
(Depends on professionals' opinions.)
'Why'? Please search klarinet archive.

A new R-13 for $1,350? Please share with us the name of the store and the salesman you dealt with. That sounds like a fantastic price.
