Hi all!
This is a fantastic, informative post! I need yalls help!! I am a "Band Dad" that is always on the lookout for clarinets for my daughter who is high school. Today, while traveling through Houston, I picked up a Buffet at a pawn shop. It is made of wood and in a burgandy attache type case. The serial number is 614502. This is where my dilema comes in! The only thing stamped into the wood are the (matching) serial numbers on the two joints and "Made in Germany" on the lower joint. The "Buffet" logos have worn off except on the bell. Can someone tell me what it is!?!?! I already have been told R13 or E11 but I have no clue! I am also wanting to know when it was made. I went to their site but the serial number search engine is not working. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME!!
Thanks a bunch in advance!

When I tried their site, it was working but the number was not found. The woodwind.org serial number list has them up to 1997. My calculations say that since then, even at 15000 clarinets per year, they wouldn't have reached that number yet. Have you definitely read it right?
