Well my listed price for my clarinet was $3600 they told me, and I paid $1800 for it. Would it be easier to go to a repair shop and get their opinion? Or go back to the music store where I bought it?
It is the acidity of the finger tips that eats through the metal, I know. I'm not shur about the yogurt. It coold work.
P.S. When I ordered my Bay ligature I specified "Silver" plating, out of the choices of Gold, Silver, and Nickel, I believe.

To me, the nickel plated keys look a little like stainless steel silverware.
regardless of which plating you have, understand that replating will cost much dollars. Instead, take clear nail polish and coat the tops of the rings and maybe the parts of the register key and thumb rust that you touch. And anyplace else that is showing wear. This issue is not just cosmetic. I understand that the base metal wears away faster than either silver or nickle plating. At some points the rings won't be flush with the chimneys and some pads won't cover. Obviously, be careful not to get anything on the pads. Recoat when you wear back down to metal.
Mind you, I have not tried this, but several folks on the list previously have recommended this.
One thought. You are wearing out your clarinet. I am not practicing enough to do same. Who is worse off? Keep up the good work!
