With summer just around the corner, I thought it would be interesting to hear if you guy are doing anything musical this summer.
I usually go to CSU music camp (and if you can go, I strongly recommend it) but this year I'm going to Europe with an honor band.
Would anyone else like to enlighten me with there plans?

Practicing. A lot. There are at least seven new clarinet majors at the school I'm attending this fall, and I have to duke it out with them for ensemble placement (one of whom is only the best high school player I've ever heard).
Other than that, I'll be helping out with setup and some small aspects of performace at the Hot Springs Music Festival in Hot Springs, Arkansas in early June, and I'm hoping to attend the Texas Bandmasters Association annual convention in July.

Hi everyone!
I'll be a counselor at a fine arts day camp. For 6 weeks, I have the opportunity to show rising 5th graders the joys of the arts. They'll have classes every day in music, drama, dance, creative writing, and fine art. I have been looking forward to this summer since I got the job!

I'll be touring France for two weeks with a provincial band and then hopefully teaching clarinet and band at a summer camp. I think it's a step up from the job I've had the past two summers. I used to be in the Band of the Ceremonial Guard in Ottawa, Ontario. We would do a changing of the guard ceremony every SINGLE day and it got so monotonous. The ceremony is pretty close to the one they do in England.(so I've heard) The uniforms are hot, you constantly sweat, you're overworked, it's the army(somewhat), you get up at 5:30 every morning but boy can it be a rush when there are 100,000 people watching you on Canada Day. And sometimes it is really fun to play in a really good marching band.
Anyways, sorry to blab on about last years summer job. I think that any Canadian university students should try out for the Ceremonial Guard, it's a unique experience.

I'm going to Indiana Summer Music Clinic, Yeah!!!! One of my goals this year is to be in the orchestra. I can't wait. I'll also find out during the summer if I made All-State Orchestra or not.

Well, I've been debating on whether to go to a camp or not. I was thinking of attending the SWT camp because I'll be attending school there in the fall and it might help me get introduced to the music staff, but I don't have the cash at the moment. The tuition is like 400 or something, but for being an all-stater, I'd only have to pay like 125. Still, it's quite steep for me right now. There is also the camp at West Texas A&M, but it's a bit more expensive and harder to get to.
Other than that, I was thinking of getting a job this summer at Old Navy or some other place like that in order to earn a bit of extra money for school. I have all of my first year paid off, and that includes room and board, so I don't have to worry about anything but extra spending money. Still, with what I could earn in about 3 months working 40hrs plus some overtime, I'm thinking I might be able to afford an A Clarinet to match my Bb R13 along with a double case and good gig-bag (right now I'm using a laptop bag that barely holds my case and a music folder). I'm gonna see what I can accomplish this summer by working and still practicing my horn as much as possible.
There ya go

I'm going to The International Music Camp on the boarder of Canada and North Dakota. I am also planning on trying out for the community band.
