So I am going to college in the fall and i am looking for a new horn though im not sure what kind to get. i started on a ycl-20 then went to a ycl-52 the 52 was a school horn which i had to return so now i am trying to figure out what would be a better horn i was thinking about an allegro does anyone have any advice for me please!

Are you in Minnesota??
Where would you purchase the instrument?
Will you have the opportunity to sample different makes/models/etc?
There are many options for the level you're probably at.
If you would like any personal assistance and are within range, I'm in Minneapolis and teach here at a Schmitt's.

yes that was a very generous offer! i was hoping to stay with yamaha i am testing out a yamaha allegro at the moment but i was wondering if anyone would recomend this horn or possibly another?

Depends on what you want to do with the clarinet in college. If you want to play in the band or the pep band or other organizations (or alone) for recreation (with or without lessons), an Allegro should suit you just fine. (You might not want a wooden instrument if you're going to be marching in Minnesota, though.)
On the other hand, if you intend to study music and the clarinet seriously, then, IMO, the best thing to do would be to contact the clarinet teacher you are likely to study with and ask his/her opinion on the clarinet you should have. Some teachers are pretty laid back about what their students play, some have very strong opinions. (But if you are intending serious study, the teacher will probably steer you toward a professional model.) The teacher may be able to help you select an instrument or may even know where you can get a good used professional model at a good price.

Allegros are nice, but I've had more students have success with the new Leblanc Soloist from Selmer.
It'll depend on what mouthpiece/reed combo you're on too, as well as what kind of music you're likely to play.
And Jack's right; if you're gonna march in MN, you WILL need a plastic clarinet.

the main reason i am looking at the allegro is because it is here in my town. living in northern minnesota makes it hard to get to instruments to test them out.
i am planning on studying music education so i will be involved a lot in music throughout college so i didnt know if i should steer more towards a professional model.
my marching days are over now and i did use a plasic clarinet for that but it won't be a factor anymore.

Can you rent one from your college, or from another student? It might save you money - or give you time to see what sort of playing you are doing at college and decide how much money you want to throw at this. Also, you will probably have more oportunities for testing if you don't put a time deadline on it.

Most education programs that I am familiar with require Ed majors to march at least a year if not two. If you're going to be a High School educator, you have to know the stuff. Check with your program!!
You have almost two months to find a horn, absolutely don't buy the instrument just because it is available in town!!!!
I hope you enjoy whatever you get.

I dont think that marching is part of the program at the school I am going to because they do not have a marching band program. I was in marching band all through high school, however, so I am very familiar with it.
If you were to name a few instuments to test out what would they be?
