I have to prepare an audtition tape for Indiana All State Orchestra, and part of this tape includes 32 measures of a group 1 solo of my choice. Any suggestions? I have experience with Weber's Concertino, 1st Concerto, and 2nd Concerto (not very comfortable with the 2nd, though), the Mozart concerto, and the Stamitz Concerto. I think I may want to do something from Mozart or Weber's 1st, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

For my jury, which is next week, I am doing the first movement from Weber's 1st Concerto. I love how it starts out, slow and melodic. I think it is a really good choice for me. I had to learn the third page in about three weeks. I did too! I like the technique of this third page.
I love the 2nd movement, and the third I want to do, but haven't gotten there yet.
I'd stick with Weber and not Mozart because most people know Mozart. It would be nice to hear something different for a change.
Good luck!

The judges are going to be very familiar with the Weber, too. I'd say play something at your level that you are very comfortable with technically, and then work on the musicality to stand out. Read Ken Shaw's posting on the Weber Concertino - so many people think of it as an average piece, but when you really get work with it it becomes so much more! The same can be said for almost all of our major repertoire.
