 B and C key problem
Author: Dancer
Date:   2006-06-04 19:07

Hi I am having a problem with my clarinet and am unsure on how to fix it. When i play high B and C after it ( the first ones above midle c) the two notes sound the same. I am 100% sure i am playing the notes right but i can't workout what is wrong with it.
Please help

check the spring on the low E key - make sure it hasn't popped off

Also, the B key, or its corresponding left hand lever could have binding pivots, or a binding linkage between the two. Does the B key operate freely?

And are you sure you are pressing the right keys?

Is the problem in going from left hand B to right hand C, or from right hand B to left hand C, or both?

And which note is actually sounding: The B or the C, or another note?

No the b key isn't operating very freely.

I can think of over a dozen possible different causes. Probably best to see a technician rather than trying to solve it here.

What might help us help you with this problem over the internet (if that is at all possible) is to tell us what note is playing when you play those notes?
