Here's a link to a great website:
http://www.andystatman.org
lots of sound, photos and videos.
Statman plays a pair of old Albert system clarinets: a Bb (that he says is about 100 years old) and a C.
He also plays incredible mandolin.

GREAT music!!!!
Thanks so much for sharing.
This one was just recommended to me as I listened to yours.
It may help if you read Hebrew but you can enjoy the intro number. He is the principal of the Israel Philharmonic.

Just a correction - he is not the principal of the Israel Philarmonic, he is the clarinet/bass clarinet player. Really great player (and on bass too)!

The IPO's website does not list an Andy Statman as a clarinet player; identifies the bass clarinetist as Israel Zohar. Do we have a case of identity-shifting aliases here?
I loved the clips of Statman's playing on the web -- especially hearing him play what sounds like a C clarinet. Truly he is a worthy successor to the great Dave Tarras!

Dear Clarnibass and Larry,
Thanks for clarifying Israel's position in the IPO. My sources were a bit less informed.
I rooted around on Israel's site and I am not finding any Klezmer bass playing. Hmmmmmm?
