Can anyone reccommend a truly good reedcase? I recently ordered that wooden selmer that holds ten and it killed my reeds. Thanks.

What was the Selmer case doing to the reeds?

I am also curious; how exactly does your reed case kill reeds?

I didn't know you have pretty good prices for reeds in the UK. I always thought only in the USA reeds are cheaper, but I guess in the UK it is not that bad at all.

How to carry and store reeds is one of the major situations confronted by us. Do you carry a special case that holds ten or 12 reeds that are in various stages of preparation. Do you carry a reed well for soaking them? Or maybe you prefer to carry entire original boxes of a couple different makes. Then, of course, the small Vito plastic jobs that hold two or 4 are very convenient for the ones that are ready to play. The small holder is nice to keep in your shirt pocket during a performance. But the larger ones are too big to put in your clarinet case. I've never really resolved the problem to my complete satisfaction.
So....I guess you didn't put the reeds in place correctly??

Sorry about the off topic, but here gas is about $5.2 US per gallon. How much is it in the UK? A more correct comparison is to compare salaries too, which here on avarage are much smaller than the UK or USA, and card muc more expensive....

OK back to reed cases - I have no problems at all with my Vandoren reed cases. One thing that might be a problem for you is they only hold 4 reeds, but for me this is not a problem since I usually play one reed until it dies.

Thanks for the advice. I apologize for not specifying - my reeds were warping faster than they ever had, and they just came out sounding 10 times worse than they sounded going in. I think it was the fact that the reed case had a velvet cushion that came down on the reeds which didn't allow them to dry correctly???

Does anyone have a DiLutis reed case with the dials? Does it work? I'm so picky with my reeds - any other suggestions?

I also have the wooden selmer case, and it's great. To solve the warping problem, put a strip of plastic over the reeds before closing the case so it will not be in direct contact with the velvet, and this will let the reed dry slower and take away the problem of warping.
