I just bought a clarinet from Ebay.com and I don;t have it yet, but I cant wait to learn all about it;s history. If anyone can help me, I want to know when clarinets with the lable "Vocotone" were made. Thank You!

"Vocotone", along with "Lafayette, Paris", "Perfackton", "Perfection", "Henry Pourcelle, Paris", and "La Vesta" were trade names for imported instruments distributed by the Bruno Company of New York, between 1920 and sometime after 1950. The company (Bruno) was started in 1834 and started using trade names for imported instruments ("stencils") in 1920. "Vocotone" was the most common of their import labels.

Just curious, I have seen a lot of metal clarinets on
eBay with the brand "American Perfection" and maybe
one or two metal clarinets branded "Perfection."
If the latter were imported by Bruno, who made/sold
the former.

I recently found a wooden clarinet in a leather embossed case in my parents basement. It has etched in it henry poucelle paris france. Above that is a viking ship with HP in it and below it is the letter B. Any idea as to what it could be worth?

From what I see on the auctions, probably less than $50. The HP means High Pitch so it can't be played in tune in any modern group. The B means Bb so it's not in an unusual key.
