 G. Rudolf Uebel clarinet
Author: Christine

My father bought me an Original G. Rudolf Uebel clarinet made in the DDR when we visited Poland in 1972. I am trying to find out information on this clarinet, including what it may be worth. I can't seem to find any information on this instrument on the internet. I would appreciate any information anyone might have. Thank you.

According to the following URL, after G.Rudolf passed away his brother is managing a company named after his uncle F.Arthur Uebel, which was the former name of the company while the uncle lived.

This is F.Arthur Uebel's URL. In Germany only!

Uebel made many clarinet models. Pro instruments are pretty good especially the Albert system variety. In the 70's they also made some very bad student level clarinets with unusual keywork. All the sections of keywork have been cast (or pressed) in one piece. I believe this particular model was made to satisfy the Russian market.

"Uebel" is German for "Evil"

I think that's cute.

Sorry, I cannot abstain from this addition to larryb's post:

... and then playing »Adagio and Variations« composed by Kaspar KUMMER (German "Kummer" = sorrow / heartache) on an UEBEL (German "Übel" = evil) basset horn ...
