Hello,
Disclaimer: I make the Gennusa "Excellente" clarinet mouthpiece.
Gennusa "Excellente" mouthpieces are made in the same manner as they were from the beginning. Iggy did make a version that predates the "Excellente" by a couple of years. They have block letters in an arc that say I.N. Gennusa. We are now making this mouthpiece as well (we found the old core and started producing them again, due to customer demand), which we call the Retro version. The really early versions also have Ciacia stamped on them. These were rebored and refaced by a gentleman that now lives in California. If you have a Gennusa mouthpiece that has "Excellente" stamped on the mouthpiece (which gets covered by your ligature), then it was made sometime from the late 80s or early 90s until now. There really is no way to date these mouthpieces exactly, but if you have the original packaging, it might give you an idea about the date. Iggy put all mouthpieces in their plastic tubes inside a navy blue jewelry box. Since we started making the mouthpieces, we package them in the plastic tube only, with our label attached. We purchased the business from Iggy in 2001, so any mouthpiece with the RedwineJazz label has been made after 2001. If you have any specific questions that I have not covered, please feel free to contact me directly. Thanks for your interest.
