I know that there are many vintage mouthpieces made from rod rubber, but what about modern ones besides the many zinner varieties? Are Vandoren mouthpieces or Selmer or LeBlanc?

Brad Behn Vintage mouthpieces are rod rubber blanks, as are Chris Hill blanks. VD and Selmer are not.

Rod rubber blanks must be milled - machined to shape whereas Zinner (obviously the wooden blanks are machined) and other blanks are molded under heat and pressure using a male and female molding process subsequent milling or machining of the bore and table rails is also done to the molded blanks. The facing may be applied to either blank by hand or milling machine.
