What's the differance between the these two mouthpieces? I tried the Hite after playing the 4C and found the Hite to be stuffy.

of course you did- the hite is about 1.09 tip opening so a slightly different (softer most likely) reed is needed. Having tested many examples of both, and listened to hundreds of students using on or the other, i would recomend you stick with the Hite.

I was using a #2 rico. I guess I should have mentioned that.

I recently play tested and measured a Hite Premier and a Yamaha 4C. Even with a #2 Mitchell Lurie standard reed, I found both of them to be "resistant". I understood why when I measured a short, 32 facing length (16mm) on both of these brand new mpcs.
To get the assurance of a decent student mpc, may I suggest buying one from a mpc refacer like David Spiegelthal, Brad Behn, Merlin and others who frequent this BB from time to time.
However, I do want to add that the Clark Fobes Debut measured precisely what the advertised spec was supposed to be. I also understand that Ben Redwine's Gennusa Intermediate student mpc is also turned out with a 34 (17mm) facing.
It's been said many times on this BB that one has to try out several or even many mpcs before a suitable one is found. Perhaps this will be the situation for you.

I have both a Hite and a Yamaha. Currently I play the Hite with a Mitchell Lurie #3 reed and don't find it stuffier than the Yamaha. (But I must say that I'm not all that happy with Ricos in combination with the Hite. To be honest, I'm not fond of Ricos at all, however that's probably "me" rather than it is Rico...)
I don't know how much your embouchure has developed; I'd follow Donald's advice, try a couple of different reeds and check what suits you best. I'd keep the Yamaha as a reliable backup, it's not all that bad a mouthpiece.
