Does all clarinet pads fit all clarinets? i just bought an realy old albert Bb LP and i want to change the pads. For example, does the "Valentino Pad's"
fit albert clarinets? or is it for boehms? and if, does any of you know pads that is for albert clarinets?

Clarinet pads come in different sizes, thickness, and style (bladder, leather, cork, synthetic). Pads can come with a profile (bevel or step) or not. Clarinet pads can be used on all types of clarinets, ie, Albert or Boehm. There has been much discusson of pads on the BB. Perform a search and you will be able to glean a lot of information on pads.

If you're fitting either Valentino pads or leather pads (probably the better option for an old Albert system), measure the INSIDE diameter of the pad cups for the pad sizes (pads come in 0.5mm increments).

It sounds like you are probably just wanting to change pads on one clarinet, then perhaps not do much more of this kind of thing. If that's the case, it's far cheaper to have it done for you. Chances are that the thing also needs corks, too, and you'll end up spending as much (probably much more) for basic tools and supplies as it would cost to have it done correctly.

Not only that, but that the time and frustration required is substantial. Seasoned repair professionals develop a method and a feel for properly placing the pads, and someone who doesn't do it often can't really have the same feel. I worked on instruments for quite some time, but if I havent' done it for a while (like now) I get rusty and it takes me a clarinet or two to really get back in the swing of things.
