Leo Weiner Two Movements

I have played Leo Weiner's "Peregi Verbunk" and while I was looking for something new to play saw that he composed a work called "Two Movements". I am wondering if anyone has played this or knows if it is any good. If anyone knows where I can find a sound sample of the "Two Movements" I would greatly appreciate it.

I don't know what that other piece is, but I was wondering what you thought of Peregi Verbunk. I am in the process of planning my recital and that piece was suggested to me...are there any recordings of it? What is it like, besides Hungarian sounding? Thanks

Marci,

I loved playing Peregi Verbunk. There are a few recordings of it out, but they really aren't that great. The tempo is REALLY flexible, except in the middle section...which is really fast. Half of the last page is a cadenza. My advice to you would be to play it, but not listen to anyone else do it first. Form your own impression of the piece. It is REALLY cool!!!

I haven't heard of the two movements either but I wanted to agree with Marci and her opinion on the Peregi Verbunk. I played it for my jury this year and found that it was was one of the most enjoyable peices I've ever played. There is so much room for the performer to explore their inner Gypsy! I had a great time but wished I could have played at a later time in my career where I had a little more technique so that I could have been more free. There are recordings but I found most of them to be stiff and rythmical - both of which I find most of this piece not to be. It was so much fun though - I will never forget it!
