 Musical Funnies

Well, it's been a while since we've had a post of funny musical comments, and i've experienced quite a few recently, so here we go:
After band rehersal, a viola player walked in looked at my Low C Bass Clarinet and said "OH COOL! You have a basoon!"
At Colorado All-State Band, all of the high school band directors play a concert for the students called the "Over the hill band" which is conducted by Dr. Singelton. This year one of the pieces they played was "The Maelstrom." This piece starts out very slowly. So Dr. Singleton turns his back to the trumpets and gives a very big prep beat for the woodwinds who are about to enter, and all of the sudden all of the trumpets break out into "Bugler's Holiday." Dr. Singleton then addressed the trumpets and said, "Don't start something you can't finish." He then turned to the crowd and said, "Have you ever heard a band with no trumpets? Well that's what this is going to be next year."
I went down to the local music shop to try out some pro clarinets. I told the guy, can you bring me the top-line clarinets you have to try out. He brought me out a Yamaha YCL-450, a Buffet E-11, and a Noblet 45. I went back the next day and it turned out they had a Selmer 10G, a Leblanc Opus, and a Buffet Tosca in back.

You know, I don't think music stores understand "professional clarinet." At least not the chain music stores (Music and Arts for example). When I purchased my last clarinet, I asked for professional models and they brought out an E11 and an E12 for me to try. That really is unacceptable.
