 Wouah!

Oh OH!
I ordered new mouthpieces and ligatures, since I live far far far away from stores and I received them yesterday.

Here's the problem: I don't consider myself as a clarinet beginner, but I had never experienced reversed ligatures. I had ordered a Bonade Reversed with a M13 Lyre, M15 and M30 mouthpieces, when it came to put them together... scratch!

Am I doing something really stupid or what? It seems almost impossible to get it on or out the mouthpiece whitout scratching it.

It is a good idea to put a piece of masking tape on any mouthpiece you are trying out to prevent scratching, just in case. Although it seems unusual that the ligature would scratch that easily... have you loosened the screws far enough? Or maybe this particular ligature has a burr inside it, you might want to feel the inside of it with your finger and check. If you have already scratched the mouthpieces though, you might be stuck with them. :-(

I, of course, loosened them...more than I've done, the screws would have fall.
The Bonade have some...hmm parallels metal "bars", this is the problem I think...are we supposed to do anything before putting it, except making tape (but I'll remember that)?

Christian -- the Bonade inverteds do scratch mouthpieces. Tape is the best you can do, but frankly the best thing is not to use that particular ligature for mouthpiece trials unless it is stretched so it doesn't carve up the 'pieces. But... the way you describe the "bars", I can't help but wonder if you are using it backward. The screws go on the back side of the mouthpiece away from your face. The rails go against the reed.

I too experienced scratching with the bonade inverted on my mouthpieces. A more durable alternative to masking tape is try affixing a mouthpiece patch on the back where the scratching could occur.
Another thing you could do is try out the bonade regular, with the bars on the screw side. They'll definitely prevent the scratching, but I havent tried one to compare sound quality.
Hope they'll take back what you dont want.

That's what I done...I bought the regular one!
And yes, it was on the good side! :)

My new bonade is also scratching my mp slightly...my question is, does this affect the mouthpiece playability or sound, or just the looks of it? Its worrying me that it might affect the sound on my mp which i like very much (gregory smith 1+).

Just affects the look of the mouthpiece, unless you LITERALLY put a hole all the way through to the inside of the mouthpiece.
