i was watching NZ BEAT AUSTRALIA at netball last night (ok, so you guys got more than 80 gold medals, but we got that one!)
While they were presenting the GOLD MEDALs to the NZ team, there was this music in the background with really really nice clarinet playing, and then when they did the national anthem the clarinet played the tune in unison with brass instruments, and was bang on in tune, i mean really really good intonation.
does anyone over there know who it was playing? was it live or pre-recorded? i'm know that there are many good players in Aussie, esp in a town like Melbourne, but if anyone has the "inside info" if would be good to find out who it was....
keep playing the good tunes

I don't know who it was playing, but given how many times we heard the anthem I'm pretty sure it was pre-recorded...

Not necessarily even an Australian recording of the anthems, I'm fairly sure they all come from the Commonwealth Games organising committee and are provided on DAT tape. I'll check - might be British.
Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.

MSO played live at the opening ceremony, but I doubt very much they recorded it. Could it have been MIDI or something?
