I've browsed on other posts about stuck barrels but i want to come up with a solution about it. I recently purchased a new barrel and the first time i struggled it in, it stuck itself on forever. Eventualy I took it off with techniques posted on older posts. But this couldn't last forever. what should I do to prevent it from sticking to the joint again?
note* it was a new moennig(old one lost:cry:) stuck on a r13.
sorry of my bad english, its not my mother toungue

You can probably maker the cork smaller, or if there is another barrel that fits the cork the way it is then it is probably possible to make the barrel a little bigger.
I'm just guessing a logical solution, and have no idea how to actually do it.

It is not an issue of the cork (most likely). You may need to bring down the amount of wood in the socket of the barrel. If you don't feel comfortable trying this yourself (and maybe you shouldn't), ask a repairman to do this for you.

Nee hao Clarinetcola,
Since this is a new barrel that didn't fit well, could you exchange it for another that fits better?
Regards,
Hans

I had a very similar problem with a replacement bell. I used some 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper inside the bell socket, and that did the trick. Go slowly. You can always take more off, but you can't put it back on. I cut the sandpaper into a strip so the width was about equal to the depth of the socket and the length equal to the circumference. Then I looped it in and kept turning with slight pressure. Easy.

Allan Segal -- Clarinet Concepts a well-regarded producer of custom barrels and one of the sponsors of this BB -- also describes how to sand a barrel to fit on his web site.

I thought a barrel had to fit on an upper joint, not on a web site.
Sorry, could not resist.

Neat website Nathan! Since you have stuck two barrels already don't you think you should have a clue as to the cause?

my old one wasn't stuck, it lost, no idea where it went.... maybe it was stole. But anyway, thanks Bob.
I tried to sand a little bit of wood off the barrel as Andy and Paul says and i carefully put it back on the top joint again.
and it stuck in the middle.
I tried not to sand too much, but i think i sanded too little. I'll get it too the repairman.... :(
