i picked up an old Prof. Romeo Orsi B flat Clarinet. Marked (faintly) 'PROFFESSIONAL' and serial number underneath (101ENO), it's well old but has no cracks in the wood. I'm currently having it overhauled Just wondering if anyone has any information on this instrument. Here in Australia we don't have them. Are they rare etc.?

a number of these were imported into NZ in the 1980s after Alan Gold, at the time Principal in the NZSO, started using them. For many years Peter Scholes (former principal APO) used a pair of Orsi...
they have a reputation for nice tone, dodgy intonation (though, the same can be said for Buffet- it just depends who you ask!). Gordon Palmer, who often posts here, has some complaints about the keywork (but as far as i know, nothing major).
hope this was helpful (i didn't mean to sound quite so discouraging)

Thanks. Any info is cool. I picked it up for 51 dollars (AU) so I can't really lose.
