No, it's not an Indian Army issue this time.
My GAS points (see recent thread) just went up...I acquired a chromed (yes, it is chromed) Swiss Army clarinet made by Rauber, Montreux.
I did some research on that name and it appears as if it's the Rauber of Selmer-Montreux fame (see attachment and http://www.wichitaband.com/01fluegelhorn/f8.jpg).
Came in a typical army-like leather quiver. Sounds nice, will need moderate overhauling.
If someone's interested in more or more detailed pics, contact me offline (no, it aint' for sale).

There was once a German Luftwaffe saxophone up on an auction service. That was very surprising as the Germans were "down" on the saxophone as being representative of that nasty "jazz" music, and they purged the horn from their ensembles right and left. However, any branch of any military service progressive enough to include (from 1939, at least) the bass clarinet in their bands could probably find room for a few altos and tenors.
The Swiss Army is notorious for not throwing anything away, so getting your hands on such an item is a little bit surprising. The excellent condition is somewhat less surprising (see below).
However, they also have the habit of (when they do throw something away) of giving it away for free. A friend of mine up in Saint Louis acquired a Swiss surplus anti-tank vehicle (formerly known, in other hands, as the Hetzer) for the price of shipping alone. The price of a compact car later, Terry Johns was the proud owner of a mint condition (the Swiss maintain their stuff well) World War II era armored vehicle, which he still shows throughout the Midwest.
Those old Selmer metal clarinets can be real prizes. Despite the "metal horn" stigma, they played as well as wood horns. Congratulations on your good luck in finding one as rare and well preserved as this one seems to be.

A Swiss army clarinet, eh? I presume it has a screwdriver, nail file and bottle opener as well?

William,
no, no multi-purpose here. Maybe one can whack the opponents with it, it looks quite sturdy.
