 Glotin Chedeville or Fobes Cicero
Author: SVClarinet09

Ok so I'm into buying a new mouthpiece. my current setup is Selmer Paris C85-105, Rovner Dark Lig., Vandoren V12 3.5s, and Selmer Paris Omega Clarinet. Budget doesn't really have a limit. I've heard remarkable things about both. What do you think is better? I'm leaning towards the Cicero.

They are very different mouthpieces, If have done a fair bit of reaserch or have not tried them out (wich it looks like you havent) do so. Try them both if you are really interested, they can be returned. Also I very highly recommend you look into a Chris Hill mouthpiece if you are seriously considering the Glotin Ched, I like it alot better (more reed friendly, darker ect.) and its cheaper too. And if you havent looked into a Grabner mouthpiece at all I would pesonally recommend his Kaspar series over both Glotin and the Fobes, just something to consider.

To clarify, I believe the Chris Hill and the Glotin Chedeville are the same mouthpiece.

As far as the Glotin vs. the Fobes, I also recommend you try both if you're interested. They are very different mouthpieces, though.

Although not the model you asked about, I have experience with Fobes mouthpeices (I've tried two of them) and they are excellent. I play Fobes on bass clarinet, which is the best mouthpiece I've played.

Actually, the I finish both the Glotin Chedeville and my own mouthpieces. There is a slight difference in that the Chedevilles are an older version of our blank, which has a smaller outside diameter. The material is the same; a replica of the old Chedeville mouthpieces from the 1930's. While I personally prefer the larger blanks, there are some people who prefer the smaller ones.
I've run out of the smaller blanks, so if anyone prefers that type, the Chedeville will be the way for them to go.
Chris

Thanks for the explanation, Chris. I didn't realize you had made two different versions of your blank.
