I was just wondering what kind of reeds another people used. I use Vandoren 3.5 and they are great, but I was wondering if there were any others out there, that were good?!?!

There are lots of great reeds out there. Some people like one and others like something else.
On my Vandoren B45 mouthpiece, I use both regular Vandoren 3.5 reeds and Mitchell Lurie #4 reeds. For my Vandoren 5RV mouthpiece, I use either Vandoren 3.5 that I have trimmed with a reed trimmer to get just a slightly stiffer reed or a Mitchell Lurie #4.5 reed. That's not as stiff as it sounds. While the ML 4 is about equivalent to a Vandoren 3.5, the ML 4.5 is about halfway between a Vandoren 3.5 and a Vandoren 4.

I'm currently experimenting with Neuranther clarinet reeds which produce a feathery covered sound. Very nice. Similar, and also good, but a bit grittier and windy are Zondas. I have also used Regal Queen, I'm not sure how widely available they are, as I need to make a special order. The last batch were very inconsistent and wore out quickly, but the previous batch was excellent; and when they are good they are very good. Worth a gamble if you can locate them. What I find a common factor with these reeds as distinct from Vandoren and Grand Concert is that, whilst they don't go as loud, they all maintain their consistency of tone better on my set up when loud passages are played.

I like the Rico Royals. I'm probably not persnickety about reeds, but I find them to be fairly consistent compared to other reeds.

I use 3.5 VanDoren V-12's, and a B-45 mp. My teacher told me that Mitchell Luries were not really good, because they were more of a student's reed, and they were really soft. I like V-12's, and I heard VD Hand Selects are pretty good too. One day I am going to buy a lot of otehr reeds and try them out, too. Maybe you should try that. Just buy a whole bunch of different good quality, professional reeds and try them out. There's a chart somewhere that tells you what brand reeds compare strengths with other brands... or something. I'm confusing myself...

Hockey Puck! Mitchell Luries are no more a student's reed than the Vandorens are. As to being soft, yes they run softer than regular or V12 Vandorens but run about the same as brands other than Vandoren. Just buy a higher number in Mitchell Lurie.
Mitchell Lurie reeds play beautifully. The only drawback to them is that they may have a short life than some others but that is going to depend on the player and how they break them in.
Now a lot of people do recommend Mitchell Lurie reeds to their students as they play well right of the box with little or no breaking in. Thus the student doesn't have fuss with reeds at this stage. The shorter life generally isn't a big deal.

I generally use the V.12s. Most professionals in my area live and die by them. I've also been trying Zondas and Rigotti Golds (a newer brand, from what I've seen, carried in Woodwind/Brasswind). Both the Zondas and the Rigotti Golds play better out of the box, but don't offer as much dynamic control as the V.12s. The Rigottis have a bit more lifespan than the Zondas.

I use V-12 3 1/2. I tried the Grand Concert Select Thick Blanks 3 1/2 and didn't like them. I found them to be too bright. Maybe this was because they were too soft for me. I don't know because a lot of people like the Grand Concerts!

Kim, I tried the Grand Concert Select Thick Blank 3's and I didn't like them either. I think they were too stuffy and too soft. Well, now I use a Vandoren Traditional Reed 3 with a Hite Premiere mouthpiece. This combination seems to work for me.

I use V12 3 1/2 also, but I haven't really tried any other brands. I march with regular vandoren 3's because their cheaper but still get a really good sound. I really financially can't afford to go out and buya whole bunch of different reeds and try them out. Besides i'd rather wait until I've been playing longer than two years before I go reed splurging, I already splurged on a festival earlier this year.

Personally, I myself love playing on Traditional Vandorens, size 5 (with a bit of minor work with a knife)... I also like 4.5 V12s, they last me a little longer, especially if I fix em just right... I like these because they fit my C.R. Scott mpc very well since I sent a Vandoren reed as a guide for when it was made.
Sometimes, Zondas are a dream to play on, but they don't fit my mpc as well unless I'm using my Ridenour mpc i got with my clarinet...
Basically, use whatever fits for ur mpc and what you prefer to hear from yourself. Sometimes, if you take a gently knife to even a mediocre reed, it can come out great

I use to play on a M13lire (vandoren) and played on V-12 size 4...Now I just bought a Hawkins Mouthpiece and the size 4 was fine until a couple weeks ago...Now I've moved to 4.5 V-12s and they are too resistent...So now I'm trying Grand Concerts size 4.5...This is after going through 3 boxes of size 4 V-12s, a 5 pack of zondas, and a box of Black Masters (vandoren)...I guess you could say the I'm in a reed SLUMP...:)

funny, Last week, I went reed hunting.. hehe
I decided, that I hated my current reed, and just went store to store finding the best reed.. ( the best reed, i have found is my Rico 2 from 3 yrs ago, but that's beside the point.. )
I found that I really like the V12. It playes wonderfully, gives a warm, mellow, sweet tone, and just is great !
I'm hooked for another few months..
or untill i decide to try that new legere reed gig
Adios

If you want to get rid of any of these extra reeds, please email me :o)
