I am currently in a "clarinet techniques" class. My instructor gives many fine examples, but I was curious if there are other problems frequently encountered by the beginning clarinetist?

This is a wide open subject. Could you be more specific?
For instance, are you interested in:
1. Embouchure problems
2. Fingering techniques
3. Music theory (scales, keys, etc.)
4. Counting and rhythm
and lots of other music subjects that relate to the clarinet?
Each player has unique problems and challenges to overcome. The only tried and true way to learn how to do it right is to find a professional tutor to get individual training to overcome each challenge when the student is ready for it.

Before starting clarinet or other instruments,I think it is definetely necessary for us to learn singing.By this we can lean basics of music.Among all,we learn it very important to 'sing' when we play instruments.Without this experience,we may think "OK,if I set my fingerings like this,this one will emit something automatically."

I believe that Hiroshi has a good point here. If you have the tune in your head, the music sometimes comes out almost by magic. If you can hum or sing the tune, the sheet music suddenly makes more sense.
My pro tutor highly encourages students to hum or sing the tune first, then play it. You would be amazed at how well the student can play it after that.
