Apparently Vito made 2 versions of its plastic/resotone bass clarinet. One with the low Eb key on the bell, the other with the low Eb key on the body. Are they basically identical instrument? Why 2 versions?
Also, someone told me that the version with the low Eb key on the body is the “big bore” version, and plays better. True?
Thanks.

A tech told me (rightly or wrongly) to avoid the Vito with the key on the bell because they tend to go out of adjustment.

There is more chance for bending keys with the model that has the key on the bell. Handled with care I think either one should give good service.

I used to own a Vito bass with low Eb bell key. It had a thunderous lower register but a little shaky clarion (or is it me?) Great pick up and play horn.
