I have an Alexandria clarinet. Does anyone have any info on this brand. It's a wooden clarinet, and says Alexandria (Paris), serial number is 6357 I believe.

Matt - No one has responded, so I'll try. I would guess the name is AlexandrE [Mark, please help] a French inst. maker, of brass insts. I believe, I recall seeing some woodwinds some time ago. Luck, Don

Don:
I was at Ellis Music in Bethel, VT last weekend. Kathy, a rather knowledgable repair person, looked at this instrument. She was surprised that the wood was in the condition it is (very clean and uncracked) and that the keys were generally well adjusted and in good shape. The pads are rather rough though. Whatever, she commented that she had seen a couple of Alexandria's before and they "impressed" her as being very low quality clarinets. What really surprised her was that my clarinet was considerably shorter (3/4 - 1") than the new Selmer that I was trying out.
I had looked for some info on this brand a few years ago. There doesn't seem to be much available on it, although after playing it now fairly consistenly for a bit I can understand why!!
