Tried a couple, its a pretty good mouthpiece, nice and dark with very good projection. I would give an edge to a Grabner K11/K13, which I find more reed friendly and have more resonance. But lomax does seem darker to me, so if thats your thing.

It should be coming back from Walter in a few days in its final form. Last time I played it (a couple weeks ago) The tone was amazingly dark and rich with great intonation, and a lot of resistance. So it will probably be a little brighter and easier playing. If it is easier playing and still has good amount of darkness it will probably be my primary mouthpiece. I will have a post after I really get a chance to play with it.

My vote goes to Walter too. I think his K mouthpieces are absolutely wonderful.

I haven't played the Lomax's myself, but I regularly play with a couple of ex-Navy Band clarinetists who use them, and I think they both sound terrific!
