Their series "Performance in Pittsburgh" is good, carries Pgh Symph broadcasts (one year after actual performance) and the usual NPR junk.

There are some very good programs which record (you can set the time, etc) and stream the internet radio channels. They also have indexes which you can find a ton of stuff.
Classical and Comedy stations are among my favorites.
The program I have which was about $30 is the Magix Webradio Recorder.

My favorite local station, KCME 88.7 (Colorado Springs / Pueblo) has been available on the web for some time.
KCME is one of a handful of "public" stations which is entirely supported by listener contributions. It receives no governmental support directly or indirectly.
Classical music 24/7, except for Lenny Mazel's great jazz shows every Saturday from 6 am until noon (ending earlier if the Met is doing a lengthy opera) and again from 6 pm until midnight.

The very best jazz station to me is http://www.kplu.org/ in the Seattle/Tacoma area. I live in OH and am a member. Wonderful streaming.
Also, http://www.accuradio.com/ has some very nice choices (classical, jazz, pop standards, etc.). If you are using Firefox as your browser, there are a few patches that you'll need or just use IE for this stream.
CBC2 from Canada has wonderful programing all day long. Anyone that has not taken the sound card output and run it to your stereo is in for a real treat.

Try http://www.classicfm.com Britain's only commercial classical radio station. They stream over the internet. Also try http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/. BBC R3 takes itself too seriously IMHO, but has no commercial breaks. It also plays complete works, not just a single movement.

As Mike says, BBC Radio 3 is the place to go for serious classical music. It also has many hours of jazz, and makes the occasional foray into the serious end of rock.
The time to avoid it is just before 4pm (UK time, of course) when it has a cringe-makingly awful programme for kids.
When I lived in France, I used to listen to France Musique, which was the French equivalent of Radio 3. It looks as though that is also available on the net http://www.radiofrance.fr/chaines/france-musiques/prgm/. Sylvain, vous etes quebecois?

Sylvain est francais (born in Lyon, lived mostly in Alsace) but has been in North America for 10 years: Lawrence, Kansas (rock chalk Jayhawks!), then Montreal (Vive le Canadien!) then Boston (Go Sox!)...

I would second (or third) BBC's Radio 3; although I like Classic FM too.
I especially like the vast range of BBC programmes kept in archives (both for that week) and then all the selection they keep at their site of other important works/programmes.
At the moment I am working my way through the music stored in DISCOVERING MUSIC section,

and that is vast enough!! Very useful for ignorant but enthusiastic parents of young musicians like myself.
Another instance (off topic), when people ask me about Indian music, I found that their programme entitled "Ragas" is one of the very best introductions to it

I have to second the KPLU recommendation above. It's my favorite, possibly because that's where I went to college! It's a great radio station and a great school. Really, how many places will give you a Bass Clarinet scholarship??
(now waiting for 32 responses telling me exactly where to get a bass clarinet scholarship, and possibly where to put it!)
Bass clarinet aside, the radio station is great. Love the evening jazz. My hubby and I were having a little disagreement in the car one night and Robben Ford's "Me & My Woman" came on - it cracked us up and we forgot all about our difference of opinion. Now every time the song comes on we laugh.
Off-topic, yes, but the whole thread is off-topic!!

They also play a lot of whole concerts not just movements and there are a lot of Live broadcasts from the national as well as the radio's orchestra (RNE) and others around Spain.
On Thursdays at 3 pm european time there is a programme I particularly enjoy where they play 4 different recordings of a same piece, and listeners vote for their favourite...no prizes or anything just for fun. All are quality, but the differences can be amazing!!

The Netherlands channel Avro Klasseik has very good webradio - with high quality from 97 kbits per second and some scheduled concerts, and lots of archives.

Set the page for "Pacific Standard Time", "music only" and "What's Playing Now?", and you'll see perhaps 100 shows in progress, all over the world, with direct links to the audio. The shows are described in only the most general way, so recommendations are still needed.

You are really correct about KPLU being the very best jazz station. I have tried many others and still go back to this station. The only bummer is that there is not a playlist available. I hear so many cool things that I would like to get some recordings.
Now the accuradio jazz streams are quite good and have a panel with the artitist info but as I said, you need to use IE for the biggest selection of streams. Firefox is still a tough connect.

WBGO - 88.3 FM in Newark NJ - all Jazz public radio station
WKCR - 89.9 FM in New York City - columbia University station - plays Jazz in the morning until 9:30, again at 12:00pm, and then evenings at 6:00pm. Known for its "scholarly" approach, as well as comprehensive round the clock, multi-day festivals focusing on specific musicians (eg: coltrane, parker, armstrong, ellington, holiday). Also has some excellent classical music program with emphasis on contemporary and unusual music; an all bach festival in the week before Christmas.
