Articulation problems due to new mouthpiece
Author: ElBlufer

I just opened a new Pomarico Crystal Mouthpiece (Emerald M) today. I am used to the tip opening of a Vandoren B45. I found that my tounging is way to slow and fat with this new mouthpiece. Does anyone have any suggestions. I await your advice.

PS: I did use search, I just wasn't sure whether those same principals would apply to a new mouthpiece.

My Setup:
R13 Clarinet (Ridenour Lyrique as my backup/marching instrument)
Walter Grabner K11 mouthpiece
Rico Reserve 3.5's
Bonade ligature

You may adjust quickly. I've always been able to get to a reasonably comfortable place with a mouthpiece in a few days or a week. So give it some time. But my question is this: Why did you get this mouthpiece in the first place? Playablility and response are probably the most important characteristics of mouthpieces.

The reason...the responce is excelent. The tone is excelent, and there is less stress on my mouth. This mouthpiece also has great control. And thank you for the advice, I'll make sure to give it a few days before conciously trying to change my articulation.

EDIT: Also, I forgot to mention it earlier, but the staccato is great, its everything else that is suffering.

My Setup:
R13 Clarinet (Ridenour Lyrique as my backup/marching instrument)
Walter Grabner K11 mouthpiece
Rico Reserve 3.5's
Bonade ligature
