After 250 years, scientists might finally have conclusive proof:

Fascinating.
And by pure coincidence they found it near "Mozart Year". (which is only three days old and I already hate it. Mozart Overflow...)

Maybe someone can make a good mouthpiece out of the material......?

Terrible joke, I admit it. Just a board question here; Why is GBK's name in bold on the board as the thread starter? I've only seen that for Mark's name....

GBK is a co-moderator.

GBK's name is always in bold, just as mine is. It signifies a moderator. A long time back I decided that I needed sleep once in a great while (along with the very occasional vacation) and asked GBK to be co-moderator.

Something about this story bothers me. Did the grave digger who recovered the skull sever the head from Mozart's body? Would a common grave digger have known who Mozart was? Lets not forget that when Mozart died very few people came to the funeral and almost nobody cared. It wasn't for many years that people began to realize what had been lost when Mozart died. So his importance escaped everyone except the grave digger? Riiiiiight...

Don't forget folks that those people who heard his music being played backwards during their digging forgot that he was still decomposing. It is amazing that his skull remained. No wonder it's a jaw dropper.

Bet it would make a good bowling ball with his kegelstatt trio and all...... ;)

You know how they used to make flutes out of the leg bones and such

(was a bad joke but somehow amusing at the same time......)

Scientists may have found Mozart's skull, 250 years after his birth. They have the DNA evidence, the scientific evidence, the physical evidence and when they showed it to Joan Rivers, she said: "Yeah...that's him"

....David Letterman, The Late Show 1/4/06

David Letterman, well that validates it then, doesn't it??

Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.

I picture Joan Rivers looking contemplatively at the skull as she holds it lioghtly in her hand, muttering "Alas, poor Wolfie, I knew him well..."

DNA tests result in failure. The bodies in the Mozart grave are still unknown.
