I am a decent player, in high school who is tired of fighting his setup. I have the chance to buy an old Buffet LP for around $200. I was wondering how this clarinet stacks up in terms of playability to the standerd R-13. Also, from the research I have done, this clarinet usually has a wraparound register key, which this dosen't. Any info you can give will be appreciated.

$200 is a VERY low price. What's the serial number? And, most important, how does it play, and in particular, how's the intonation?

Yes, I agree 200 is low. If it's in good condition you could always resell it and put a down payment on a newer R-13.

If it is marked "LP" but has a modern-style register key, then my guess is that it dates from the late 1920s to mid-30s or thereabouts. Essentially it should play like most clarinets of that vintage, nothing special. I wouldn't expect it to play like an R-13, as it's a different design. $200 is typical for instruments of that vintage.
