Hello
Alright. This year, my high school Wind Ensemble is playing a song featuring me as the soloist. At the end, I really want to acknowledge them (because they are AWESOME, and it's the right thing to do!!!). How should this be done, in your opinion?? How have you seen it done (I've watched many soloists not acknowledge the bands/orchestras that accompany them, and that's just rude IMHO)?? Thanks in Advance!!!

You just turn towards them and gesture sweep your hand while simulating a clap
Simulate as you don't want to bang your Clarinet.

After the audience claps for you, take a step to the side and/or just turn a little sideways, sweep your arm gesturing towards the orchestra (palm facing UP, mind you), smile, and clap while looking at them.
If you're feeling REALLY saucy, go ahead and gesture for THEM to stand up and accept the applause too.

Can bassoonists kiss?
If you walk offstage and applause continues, walk a little way back on stage, then stop and acknowledge the conductor and ensemble from there.
