I am trying to get people's opinion on what they think is the most sorrowful and heart-wrenching clarinet solo out there.

An Eb-clarinet player's thoughts in a concert:
What is the most beautiful solo?
The solo that the principal is playing now.
What is the most nerve-wrecking solo?
The solo that I'm just about to play.
What is the most difficult solo?
The solo that I'm just playing.
What is the most rewarding solo?
The solo that I've just played and don't have to play again for a while.
Thank you.

Alphie - You say it so well!! I am playing 2nd on some Mozart Divertimenti trios this afternoon, and am having your thoughts early!! Re: beautiful performances, a while back, on FM, I heard a Stolzman CD, his perf. of the Flower Song from Carmen brought tears to my eyes!! Of course Bizet is my favorite composer! Don

Without a doubt, . Non piu di fiori from La Clemenza di Tito. But that's only personal.

the second mvt of the brahms clarinet quintet, or the 1st mvt of the 1st sonata by the same composer.
