Did I miss something? What happened to him? Wasn’t he just at the International Bass Clarinet Convention? What is this “late” Josef Horak thing I read about? Willy

Wikipedia says he died on 23 November:

If there are so many people on this board unwilling or unable to have a civil and balanced discussion about important issues, then I shan't bother to post here any more.
To the great relief of many of you, no doubt.

Wow. Anyone knows the cause of his passing?
He played his last public concert at a occasion that celebrated the legacy of his first public concert, how fitting or ironic…
He is to be missed, and I am still unable to purchase any of his recordings.
Just took a look at his website, and nothing has been mentioned yet.

i wouldn't trust the wikipedia thing, from what i heard it's infiltrated with "crank" entries that they can't research and delete fast enough.

I was lucky to see Josef Horak's last concert. He was already very sick at the time, and Henri Bok said that eventhough he (Horak) felt very bad he will play one of the pieces. He struggled but played beautifully. I think that would be one of the concerts I will remember for the rest of my life.
