Totaly not clarinet related ... though clarinet community related.
I'm travelling to the USA in late November early December (2005). Will be in LA (two days) then New York city for about a week (likely first week of December), then Rochester (NY) and up to Boston.
Would be great to catch up with BBers if possible ... if you'd like to make contact - let me know via this thread and I'll organise to get you my email address

p.s. - the news of New Orleans, Alabama, Mississippi and other parts of the gulf states is so appalling I don't know what to say. The company I work for is matching donations dollar for dollar and you can be assured I'll make a contribution.
Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.

Diz,
thanks for your help with our disaster areas.
If you should get to this civilized part of the US, make contact. We can do some duets, if you're patient.

I'm guessing that by LA you mean Los Angeles. I'm in a concert on December 1st (in Long Beach) if you find yourself in the area and wanting to hear some good (well, I don't know the program yet) wind music.

December 1st is my birthday!!!!! haha!
If your ever in the Kansas City Missouri area, you can come and play with me, Tyler, and Rebecca (RC Clarinet Lady). We could play a quartet or something! Have fun in the U.S. and thanks for your contributions to the Katrina disaster!

Carrie
"Toto - I don't think we're in Kansas anymore ..." sprung to mind (can't think why!!).
Unfortunately - Missouri - while tempting is a little off the beaten track for this trip - maybe YOU should come to the Big Apple??

Oh yes, MO is very tempting-not! Maybe St. Louis or Branson, but that's it. I'd recommend Chicago-go down Cicero street and then go see the Symphony and the Lyric Opera!
I wish I could get to NY! Man, that would be great! If you have any extra room in your suitcase, or extra money for 1, I'd go! lol! Have fun!

EEBaum ... I'll be in LA next Sunday (4th December) if you still want to catch up and say "g'day" ... let me know your phone number via Mark Charette, if you like.
thanks

I sent you a separate message - some of our Upper Canada Clarinet Choir members might be able to meet up with you in Rochester, NY. That depends of whether there's a travel advisory, in other words whether or not there's a blinding snow storm that day.
All the clarinet events might not let you have time for business on this trip! What a bummer.
Be sure not to make any jokes at the U.S. border! They're way too serious, but you've got to behave if you want to get in.

Brenda,
I've found that the border people particularly hate clarinet related limericks. That'll get you strip searched.

I'll be at the concert on December 1 (which, by the way, should go on the What's Happening calendar).

can we post other people's/organization's events to the announcements calendar?
I agree that the Robert Levin/Charlie Neidich concert on December 1 should be there, but can anyone simply submit it?
Ken, will you post your review here?

Of course you can - if people don't send anything to announcements@woodwind.org it won't get listed. Normally I like 2-3 weeks advance notice so it'll get up in time.
I don't do lookup & additions if I read them here - announcements@woodwind.org goes into a special inbox that I review & clear out weekly.
