I have an Evette Clarinet that is marked France with N-4 on the mouthpiece and a seriel number of 77974 and I would like to know when a clarinet with this serial number was made.

just go to buffet's website, go to products, then serial number search and search under evette, or inermediate, I think you can find it there.

The serial number search appears not to be working again. Also, in this case, knowing where to look on the site could be tricky, even if it was working. Is your clarinet wooden or plastic? Also, can you describe the label on the upper joint in as much detail as possible? (In particular does it say "Evette" only or "Evette and Schaeffer"?)
Unless the clarinet turns out to be extremely old, the mouthpiece almost certainly is not the one that originally came with the clarinet because, at least on later models, the mouthpiece was stamped "Evette" or "Evette & Schaeffer," depending on which model it was.
Best regards,
jnk

Well my clarinet is a plastic one and the engraving on the bell and the top of the instrument is just Evette and looks sort of like the Buffet & Crampon engraving.
