Hello
I will be playing a school-owned bass clarinet and need to sanitize the mouthpiece. What do you guys recommend I use on it??

I suggest buying your own. The chance that the 'piece on the school horn is any good is pretty remote. You can buy a Fobes Debut for $60 or a Behn for $55 and probably be much better off. You'll have a mouthpiece that will carry you long past when you turn the school horn back in, and probably have a much more rewarding playing experience.

Cavicide is the best sterilizer for your mouthpiece, and it won't change the color of it either.
It kills everything

Beverly Hawkins of Windworks suggests that. She was in the dental industry before becoming a wind repairtech.
But as msloss suggested - you are better off getting a good one new.

Just rinse out the mouthpiece (soap and water) and wash your hands. I'd use gloves too

Beverly gave me a cloth with that stuff on it and said to wash my hands after using it. It is non-acidic, but you wouldn't want it to stay on your hands for any period of time as it could be absorbed into the skin.
With the exception of growing an 6th toe on my right foot, I haven't had any negative effects from it

btw - The music company "Music & Arts" uses Tidy Bowl to sterlize their rental mouthpieces.
I know that as a friend of mine works for them and preps instruments from time to time. That's really what they use!! (rinse afterwards)

Sounds like Cavicide is one to avoid with the kids. Assuming you quite like them.

Wouldn't a second pinky be much more useful? Maybe the Doctor could tweak the formula a bit...? ;-)

Hydrogen Peroxide works wonders for me on getting the "gunk" off, then I use rubbing alcohol to really clean the sucker.
