HELP w/ trills in Toccata Marziale
Author: janlynn
Date:   2005-10-18 20:02

okay ... ive been doing better with this piece than i first thought - but so far, have been faking the trills and i need to start learning them.

(i dont have a clarinet teacher so i am asking if someone here can help me)

Key of C

Note is Ab (second space) tr marking with b above it
So I trill Ab to Bb?? but how?

next note G (second line) tr marking with b above it
So I trill G to Ab?? (double checking)

Thanks, Jan

For the Ab/Bb trill, play Ab and trill with the knuckle of your right index finger on the 3 lowest trill keys.

I also use this in the first movement of the Mozart Quintet, 6 bars into the second half. (Stadler's clarinet had no Ab key. You played Ab with the register key and trilled with the A key.)

You're correct about the trill on G.
