I got an unsolicited email from someone asking:
"I have A Selmer Clarinet # Serial # 7035 Bg it has the signature of Benny Goodman on the horn, it was acquired in the 50's by a railroad porter. I trying to track the date and Value. Can you help me or direct me to someone that would be of assistance?"
Call me suspicious, but methinks this is a hoax. Selmer serial numbers start with a letter. Does anyone have any info on such an instrument? Searching this BB turned up a lot of interesting information but not about this instrument.
I deleted the email and then decided to give board a crack at it.

FWIW, I have a Selmer Signet Clarinet with no letter in the serial number.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Here's what one instrument dealer/collector sez:
I wouldn’t be surprised to find a Selmer Benny Goodman signature model-Selmer also made Louis Armstrong signature model trumpets and Jimmy Dorsey signature model saxes (pretty rare-basically a version of the Radio Improved)
