I have noticed a few people mention that their wives/husbands also played clarinet. Since that is how I met my wife I would be intersted to know how many two clarinet families are out there. If your'e really brave, Who is better?

An article by Naomi Drucker on the Clarinet June issue was very interesting.
I didn't know Mrs.Neidich is a clarinetist. Could you tell more about how they met and work together(or not)?

My husband became a clarinet "rebeginner" a couple of years ago, largely due to my influence, I suppose.

But, at about the same time he got serious about the clarinet, I got serious about the oboe, so now, when we duet, it is oboe and clarinet, instead of two clarinets.

He plays soprano clarinet at home, but bass clarinet in the community band.

Which of us is the stronger player? Well . . . modesty forbids . . . [wink]

My wife is a clarinet player.

My teacher's partner is a clarinet player.

There is a clarinet player in my band who's husband is a clarinet player.

What is it about clarinet players?

My current girlfriend plays the clarinet....
Maybe that's a extra thing we like about them???

But it's nice if you share the hobby, we both go to the same rehearsals, concerts etc….

PS even my ex-girlfriend played the clarinet….

So do clarinet couples buy twice as many ligatures? Or perhaps even more, because you don't have to justify yet another ligature purchase to your spouse then?!

OpusII, you really seem to be a bit one-track-minded! :-)

I saw Ayako last night at Ricardo's Juilliard Masterclass. Charlie is in Russia currently. She's on the faculty at Juilliard and they share students.

My wife and I are both recorder players. Does that count? She can (sort of) play a scale on clarinet -- about as well as Harpo in Cocoanuts. http://www.harpomarx.net/solos.html.

Morrie and Mary Backun. Mary is principal of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra and Morrie will sometimes play Bass if one is required.
