Hello all, I know, this is not a clarinet question, but I have exhausted all means of finding more info on this, so hopefully some of you in the know could share your knowledge or experience.
I am trying to determine who actually manufactured my newly-acquired baritone sax. It's marked "Lafleur - Made for Boosey & Hawkes" on the bell, and on the neck it's marekd "Made in Czechoslovakia". Could be as old as 30 years old, to low A, lacquered body, nickel plated keys.
I've learned from my research on this board on others that this is a stenciled horn made either by Kohlert or Amati, depending on manufactured year, so would can give a good guess as to which was the manufacturer based on the serial number "1811XX"?

My guess is that it's most likely to be an Amati.
See if the keywork is very chunky and utilitarian, with rounded ends to the cup arms as opposed to pointed ends, and the bell key guards are made from flat metal strips forming a 'T' shape (and probably soldered directly to the bell), with red felts. The bell key touches are of the old design that you have to push into the instrument (as opposed to the Selmer 'Balanced Action' style) and the actual bell key cups are mounted on pillars on the bell itself, and on the right side as you're playing.
The thumb button is either black or a translucent white, and made of smooth, soft plastic. And if it's still in the original case from that era, this probably has a mustard yellow coloured lining, with a soft outer shell covered in fake leather. And if there's a covered compartment in the case this might have a white plastic closure in the shape of a guitar plectrum.

It wouldn't have rolled toneholes, not like the old Conn X-bars had.
The toneholes are just drawn, and the sides probably have a kind of multi-faceted look, as if they've been planished.

It's likely that your baritone sax was manufactured by Amati, as Kohlert typically used serial numbers in a different format. The "Made in Czechoslovakia" marking also points to Amati, as they were known for producing saxophones in that region at https://mylocationnow.io/. However, without more detailed information, it's difficult to say for certain. If you're looking for further confirmation, I would recommend reaching out to saxophone experts or forums dedicated to vintage saxophones
