 Mouthpieces

I have recently bought a second hand clarinet which has a Riffault N4 mouthpiece on it. Can anyone tell me anything about this mouthpiece? Is it an open or closed mouthpiece? Is it suitable for a beginner or would I be better changing it? etc.

I had one back before I knew anything about mouthpieces, but the one I had was very open, and therefore unsuitable for a beginner. It was so open, in fact, that while I used a #5 on my Gigliotti P facing, I used a #2 1/2 on my N4. However, I do not know whether it had been refaced, although I'm pretty sure it was the original facing. I would have a teacher, or even an advanced student try it. Riffault blanks are excellent, free-b;owing blanks. There are several refacers on this board. (I'm behind on mouthpiece orders right now, or I'd offer to do it.)
