Are there any instructional or other clarinet DVDs available that bulletin board members recommend? There is a DVD listed in The Clarinet called "The Hasty Legacy," featuring Stanley Hasty, Michael Webster, and Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr.

Well, they're not really instructional, but there's a couple of Benny Goodman ones I'd recommend: Adventures in the Kingdom of Swing (which is a documentary on his life, but has many performance examples) and the DVD that comes with the Centennial celebration CD (this contains many rare, full performances). If you don't like Benny, you probably wouldn't like these.

Toronto Symphony bass clarinetist David Bourque has a DVD out called "Adjusting the Single Reed".

I, for one, and most likely others reading this thread would like to know (if the information is available, i.e. not a gift from distant relatives :) ) where the CD mentioned could be purchased, or where you bought it.

Tom Ridenour has a DVD with his ATG system that is pretty good. The camera work isn't great, but the info is quite good.

The Centennial Collection is a legit release on Bluebird Jazz (BMG). I see it in most every store. It's part of a series 6 releases from about a year ago (there's also one for Artie Shaw). They contain one CD and one DVD. The CD of the Goodman collection is small and large group recordings from the late 30s; nothing rare. The DVD, however, contains a lot of great stuff. A bunch of selections that were part of movies from the 40s, but, unfortunately, not the Hollywood Hotel material. There's also a great cut from 1960 with Red Norvo, and some stuff from the Belgian Jazz Festival in 1966, including a composition not available anywhere else called The Monk Swings, which is probably as experimental as Goodman ever got. A very interesting tune.

Speaking of DVD's, are there any concert DVD's out there, particularly classical music, ie. concertos and such?
