The band I play in is doing a similar piece - Looney Tunes Overture. It's a fun break from some of the other serious stuff we've got crammed in the program. We're also doing the soundtrack from The Incredibles. Gotta keep the kids in the audience happy!

Fun stuff :)

Sort of like "Instant Concert" for band. How did "This Is It" get in there?

Right, try this link for a piece we're doing in Feb.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0001JSS6I/qid=1127391580/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_10_1/202-9016696-8081421

Unfortunately the sound bite of Tomlinson's Fantasia on Auld Lang Syne only lasts for 59secs and does not give any indication of the 100+ well known tunes that have been incorporated, some only 1 bar, sometimes more than one melody at a time. The piece is 20 mins long and a laugh every minute. It's a tiger to play but worth every bit of it.

If there's anyone interested in this fantastic piece, I have further info on it. Email me for same.

In my city orchestra we played What's Up at the Symphony and yes, it's funny!

At two places they are comments from bugs ("huh...what's up doc'?) and porky ("hhrrr...it's it's it's the end") or something like that. This kind of pieces are not only fun to play, but everybody know them.

Bob49t:
I heard the Tomlinson Fantasia on Classic FM a month or 2 ago - laughed like a drain all the way through. I strongly suspect whoever chose if for your group likewise. Are you playing it in an orchestra of is it a concert band arrangement? If it is a band piece, who arranged it and who is the publisher?
