I picked up a used Selmer Bundy Clarinet yesterday, with a serial number of 525041. Can anyone tell me when it was made. It has been overhauled and re-padded and seems to play quite well (assuming you can call what I am doing to it playing).
It says "Bundy" on the upper section, and says "Bundy, Resonite, Selmer, USA" on the bell. It has a high gloss finish and the keys are either chromed or very highly polished nickel (extremely shiny, compared with the Simba).
Thank you all in advance.

Heh, I can usually tell how old it is by how ugly the case is.
Green ones were from early 80s, maybe late 70s, I think. Black ones are from later 80s, early 90s...

It sounds like a fairly old one as most of the Bundys I used to deal with (back in the late '80s to mid '90s) had serial numbers in the low millions.

I checked a couple of my charts and they both showed 1970-71.
Hope this helps.

Do you have anything in your charts that points to a Martin Busine #5089? I'm just curious...

Thank you all for the information. It looks like the oldest it could be is about 1957 or 58, and the newest would be about 1980. The case is either green, brown, or red, but definitely not black (I am really color blind).
I any case, it is definitely a step up, and I am enjoying it immensly.

Bob,
I am ROTFLMAO!
By the way, I did a little research on the Simba name. I turns out it is an abbreviation.
The translation is "SIMulated BAnd instrument"...
Acutally, it has not been that bad for a beginning instrument, and I will keep it as a back-up for the time being.
Thank you again!
