My Recording of the Kegelstadt (on piano)

Note my 2 missed notes at the very beginning ; )

This summer I received the fantastic oppurtunity of performing the Mozart E-flat Trio for clarinet, viola, and piano at the Eastman School of Music's Kilbourn Hall, which is regarded as one of the leading recital halls in the world. While spending 3 weeks at Eastman in their summer music camp for high school students as a composition major, I met and made friends with 2 other people, a quite advanced clarinetist from Sacremento CA and a serious violist from the Florida Panhandle. All three of us are now H.S. seniors. We decided to rehearse and perform the opening movement of the Mozart K498 and I have now decided to share the recording with this BBoard. It's not the cleanest performance of the piece, but it sure was a lot of fun.

Two other recordings of my performances are also listed on that page, including one that is a composition of mines and another in which I played clarinet. Also listed are recordings of the chorus, which I was a member of.

The clarinetist sounds really nice for a being in high school.

Sounds very nice. Wish I was the one playing along on clarinet (since the piano and viola here seem to have done a much better job than when I played it last year), but I probably wouldn't have done it as much justice as this clarinetist. Sure woulda been fun to try though.

Either way, sounds very nice. Definitely enjoyed listening to it!

I hope I didn't leave you out, you were great on the piano. But usually piano players sound the same (to me), unlike the clarinet how it someone can be bright, and etc..

Well done Kevin...........takes me back to the parental home.......we played this piece a lot........mum on piano, dad on viola and me with my lightweight B and H Regent. I've performed it a lot since these days, but the memories of the early days come flooding back when playing it. Thanks for that and thanks also for the interesting link, where we find a versatile young musician such as yourself.

BTW, Robin de Smet arranged the Kegelstadt viola part for clarinet, so if violists are thin on the ground, you could always sucker a friend to play the more difficult but rewarding Clar 2 part !

Regards,

BobT

Even with a 64kbps mp3 file (which is horrible quality) I liked it a lot! I liked your sound on the piano very much.
Two thing I suggest you to do are, if you have a sound editing software use a limiter or normalizer to make it a little louder. Also if you can make the mp3 128kbps, or even better 192kbps that would also make it sound much better.

By the way, what country are you from? I see you are doing a Hebrew song there we sing a lot in my country (Israel).

P.S. Are you interested in hearing criticism?
