Hi, does anyone know who makes a double case for Bb and C clarinets?
I play both in my church group, sometimes accomanied by piano. Having to carry 2 cases is a bit of a hassle, hence my question.
Thanks.

I don't know where you stand on soft cases (probably best not to stand on them at all as that'll do serious damage!), but the 'Bags' double clarinet gig bag has padded channels for each joint inside that will take any combination of instruments from A up to Eb, and these channels haven't got pre-formed indentations for thumb rests, etc. so you should get a C clarinet in them.
They're marketed in the UK as 'Bags', but not sure what they're called in N. America or Canada.
I'm not a fan of soft cases due to the damage that can be done, especially sax gig bags where saxes (and their mechanism) an end up in all sorts of funny shapes.

I'm going to order one of these for my Bb/Eb combination, they showed me this combination on the Frankfurther Music Messe.. It was very nice and strong enough to protect the clarinets, but I'm not sure of it can carry a C clarinet...

An Amati C clarinet divides up into four pieces, so they should fit - maybe leaving the barrel on the top joint to take up the space.

John Myatt over here in the UK had some 'Bags' gig bags in their special offers list, I don't know if 'Bags' has a website though.

Hi: For my two Alberts that I use the most, I use a Buffet double case (A and Bb), and my A and C fit very well and seem to be well protected. I sometimes carry a Bb instead of the A in the same case with the C.
Good luck.

I have also transported my C and Bb clarinets to rehearsals, etc, in a double case intended for Bb and A clarinets and it seemed to work fine!

Willy,
That's right, the Bb goes in the A slot and the C goes in the Bb slot. It's not perfect, but it works okay to get them from home to a rehearsal and back. I don't keep them in that case all the time, just when I need to take them both somewhere. They go back in their own cases when I get home.

Or leave the Bb in it's own place, and with the barrel attached to the top joint of your C clarinet, put that part in where the bottom joint of your A normally goes, and the bottom joint where the top joint of your A normally goes, provided it isn't too tight a fit against the sides, and pack the ends with your pullthroughs.

I will also post some pictures of it, for interested Bb + Eb players...

The case has arrived today, it’s a real beauty. It’s designed to hold a Bb + A + Eb clarinet at the same time, so it’s really a triple case. But if you put all of them in the case, then the bell of the Eb clarinet needs to be put in the bell of the A or Bb clarinet… I don’t think that a C clarinet would fit properly in this case, but then again I’ve put my Bb in the place of the A clarinet and the case adapted nicely to the clarinet.
The case has a nice comfortable molded handle and adjustable shoulder straps with pads.. There is also a possibility to carry it as a backpack. It’s very strong and there is a combination lock on the left side.
I’ve added some pictures of the case for those who searching for a nice combo Eb/Bb case…

Now, is there such a thing as a triple case to take a pair of Full Boehms and a standard Eb (I now wish I fitted a LH Ab/Eb on my R13 Eb before I had it silver plated)?

You could ask Wiseman, I think that they've the greatest cases around...but you'll have to bring a very large bag with money.....

I heard that!
Yeah, Wiseman cases are expensive, but at they're better made and command that price more than some expensive Selmer/Bach cases do.
I think I'll stick to what I've got - I bought a brand new R13 case for my Eb that I saw in John Myatt's special offers list, and although the inside isn't great (could do with some more padding in the lid cushion, but that's not dificult to do), it fits perfectly, and looks the part!
